·Five-round, two-circuit Middle East-based format complies with FIA Super Licence points requirements

·Six teams confirmed for month-long season with driver line-ups to follow

·Compact schedule provides ideal winter series for Formula Regional European Championship contenders

The F3 Asian Championship Certified by FIA has confirmed January 23 for the start of its 2021 Middle East-based season, with six teams already confirmed for the five-round, 15-race schedule which fully complies with FIA Super Licence requirements.

As well as giving drivers a high-level of competition, valuable track time and the potential to earn all-important FIA Super Licence points, with tightened restrictions on pre-season testing of the Tatuus T-318 under the new-look Formula Regional European Championship regulations, the series also represents an attractive winter programme.

Commented Davide De Gobbi, General Manager of Top Speed:

“We are delighted to confirm January 23 as the start of the 2021 F3 Asian Championship season. After the disruptions to the 2020 motorsport season worldwide, the championship will provide drivers with the opportunity to earn FIA Super Licence points over what is effectively a winter series for European teams and drivers, and for young talents to get their careers back on track.”

The latest driver to see the benefits of contesting the Asian series is Pietro Fittipaldi, currently preparing to make his F1 debut at the Sakhir Grand Prix this weekend in place of the injured Romain Grosjean. Fittipaldi earned the final Super Licence points he needed by finishing fifth in the F3 Asian Championship last season. Newly-announced Haas F1 Team 2021 driver Nikita Mazepin, meanwhile, also collected Super Licence points from the Asian championship last season after finishing third.

The F3 Asian Championship certified by FIA was launched in 2018, and its ranks have included a host of top names during its three seasons to-date, including Dan Ticktum, Nikita Mazepin, Jack Doohan, Jamie Chadwick, Tatiana Calderon, Jake Hughes and Liam Lawson.
