Having won 7 of the 8 races in 2025 so far, if Alex Sawer gains 23 points more than his opposition over the three races then the Vietnamese star will put the championship beyond doubt, but his Evans GP team-mate Seth Gilmore will have renewed confidence from his maiden F4 victory on the streets of Bangsaen in Thailand and will surely be hoping to mount a stronger challenge and with all of the races remaining now being held at Sepang – the team’s Asian headquarters – the Australian will be at his very best.
Closest to them in the championship fight are the Blackarts Racing duo of Rishon Rajeev and Inigo Anton. The Indian driver Rajeev has definitely been close to thwarting the Evans GP on occasion this season, whilst Philippines ace Anton is not only leading the rookie standings but also hasn’t finished a race lower than 4th all season with only a disqualification in the opening weekend blighting his score for the season. Their regular team-mates Ben Nguyen of Vietnam and Joshua Berry of Singapore are back in town once more, hoping they’ll have a stronger run than they did in Bangsaen last time out.
Worapong Aiemwichan has scored points finishes in all five races he has contested thus far so is improving all the time. Hoping to steal some points off the youngsters once more are Thomas Yu Lee and Wang Zhongwei, who are still enjoying pushing the limits in South East Asia’s premier single seater category.
For Sawer, it all seems fairly straightforward to do the same job he has done so far in the previous three weekends. However, there are some new additions to the grid that could prevent the championship being clinched for another fortnight. The biggest threat is likely to be Korean driver Kyuho Lee who joins Evans GP to become a potential race winner this weekend, fresh off finishing in the top ten in Spanish F4 with Rodin. BlackArts have also added a driver to their lineup as young Imran Halim joins the grid having cut his teeth on the karting circuit behind the main race circuit for almost an entire decade.
Pinnacle Motorsport return to the F4 SEA championship for the first time in two years, and will run two very strong rookies that could grab silverware in their first outing. Italian driver Niccolo Maccagnani has recently signed for the Ferrari Driver Academy for 2026 and has been testing F4 cars for the last three years, whilst Kareen Kaur is flying for the flag for Singapore and has recently grabbed podium finishes in the ROK Cup Asia finals in karting. She will also represent Singapore in the Champions of the Future Karting Championships this autumn and has raced in the top five in Inf1nity IAME Series Asia in 2025, so her talent is quite exceptional.
With the largest grid of the season so far and a dry weekend expected for the fourth round of the championship, the drivers should be able to push their limits and give us a fantastic show. The question everyone wants the answer to is simple - can anybody stop Alex Sawer becoming champion this weekend? Three more wins would seal the deal, but it’ll be harder than ever for him to accomplish.
