The final weekend in the Formula 4 South East Asia Championship is set to be a defining moment in the history of Asian motorsport as Alex Sawer is within one pole position of becoming Vietnam’s first ever FIA international champion, and as he returns to Sepang in Malaysia it appears to be a mere formality that the title will be going the Evans GP driver’s way.

His team-mate Seth Gilmore has kept the title fight alive as long as possible, and his victory at Sepang two weeks ago ensured that the showdown would last until the final weekend. Thomas Yu Lee will also drive for the team one more time in 2025 questing to keep up with the rest of the pack as the sole Master driver in the field.

Evans GP will field one final novice for the season as Singapore’s karting star Rafael Vaessen will now make his single seater debut having been very strong in the second half of the Inf1nity IAME Series Asia crown in recent weeks out in Thailand.

Over at BlackArts Racing, Inigo Anton will once more quest for rookie silverware as he bids to become the rookie champion. His team-mates will be Joshua Berry, Imran Halim and Ben Nguyen once more after a competitive showing from all three drivers last time out. Sadly Rishon Rajeev has now returned to his native India in preparation for his national single seater campaign to conclude.

Pinnacle Motorsport are still fielding the stunning Italian rookie Niccolo Maccagnani who wowed the crowds in phenomenal fashion in Round 4 with pole position on his car racing debut, followed by three podium finishes. This time he and the team will be eager to grab a victory. Also fresh from his bid to become Toyota Gazoo Racing king back home in Thailand, Ayrton Asdathorn returns to the championship with Star Performance to end the season on a high note and he could be on for a victory to close out the year.

Live coverage of the event will begin with qualifying on Saturday morning, followed by all three races for the season finale. A points finish anywhere will seal the championship for Alex Sawer, but the three races may deliver more than just a champion.
